After Northwestern's first attempt to open the 2014 season was rained out last week, the Wildcats are eager for their debut Friday evening at the Badger Season-Opener hosted by Wisconsin.

The fall running season is in full swing in Chicago, and community members are invited to join NU Cross Country for the Fall 5K Race Series beginning Tuesday, Sept. 16.

Northwestern was unable to open its 2014 season Friday night when its debut meet, the NIU Night Race hosted by Northern Illinois, was canceled due to severe weather in the DeKalb area.

Since arriving back on campus, April Likhite's 2014 Wildcats squad has been working hard to prepare for the start of their competitive season, which gets underway at the season-opening NIU Night Race on Friday evening.

Head coach April Likhite announced Wednesday that 2013 alum Audrey Huth, one of the most successful runners in Northwestern program history, has been hired as an assistant coach.

Northwestern University's student body is just now dispersing for the summer, but the official start of the NU cross country season is only 10 weeks away, as noted by today's release of the Wildcats' 2014 schedule.
